Jan Dirk Blom

Jan Dirk Blom is a Professor of Clinical Psychopathology at Leiden University’s Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences. He works as a clinical psychiatrist at Parnassia Psychiatric Institute in The Hague, where he heads the Outpatient Clinic for Uncommon Psychiatric Syndromes and directs the Psychiatric Residency Training Programme for Adult Psychiatry. He also holds an affiliation as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Groningen.

His research focuses on psychotic disorders and hallucinations, integrating cognitive neuroscience and transcultural psychiatry. Recent publications explore sleep-related hallucinations, musical hallucinations, and cultural influences on psychiatric syndromes.

Notable awards include the 2014 SAP NVvP Publication Award and multiple Mednet Top Physician recognitions. He has mentored PhD candidates in psychiatry and neurology.
