Jan Claassen is an Associate Professor of Neurology at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University. He is a nationally/internationally recognized expert in neurological intensive care, focusing on status epilepticus and brain hemorrhages. As co-chair for guidelines development at the Neurocritical Care Society, he drives clinical practice standards. His research emphasizes physiologic changes after acute brain injury and innovative brain monitoring techniques like continuous EEG.
