Jamie Watson is an Instructor in the Department of Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Western States, Portland. She holds licenses as a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) in Oregon and Washington, and is a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S™) and AAMFT Approved Supervisor. Her clinical expertise spans neurodivergence, trauma, and child-centered interventions, with over a decade of experience in clinical and educational roles.
Education: MA in Marriage & Family Therapy from George Fox University (2011). Professional memberships include the Oregon Association for Play Therapy (President/Member), American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (Clinical Fellow), and Association for Play Therapy.
Research interests focus on play therapy, trauma-informed care, and attachment-centered approaches. She has developed workshops on sandtray therapy, child mental health, and stress management for therapists. Her APT 2017 Award of Excellence recognizes her contributions to play therapy. Jamie also consults on clinical documentation, private practice development, and supervision mentoring.
Prior roles include Mental Health Therapy Director at a pediatric nonprofit and teaching at George Fox University and University of Western States. She incorporates animal-assisted therapy through her trained therapy dog and Goldendoodle.
