Jamie Neely is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Saint Louis University, affiliated with the School of Science and Engineering. His research focuses on transition metal catalysis, particularly iron-catalyzed C–N and C–C bond formation. He holds a Ph.D. (2014) and B.S. (2008) in Chemistry from Colorado State University and the University of Missouri, respectively.
Research Interests: The Neely group investigates first-row transition metal complexes, combining inorganic, organometallic, and organic chemistry to understand catalytic mechanisms. Recent work includes iron azametallacyclobutene complexes and pyrazolyl-substituted ligand systems.
Publications: Recent studies highlight iron-catalyzed carboamination reactions (2022–2023), cobalt hydroboration (2015), and Rh(III)-mediated pyridine synthesis (2013–2014). Key findings appear in Organometallics, Inorg. Chem., and ACS Cent. Sci..
Awards: NIH Ruth L. Kirschstein Fellowship (2016) and Gordon Research Conference Poster Award (2013).
Advising & Labs: Mentored students including Dr. Corey Richards (Ph.D. 2022), Grace Murphy, and Pokpong Rungthanaphatsophon. The Neely Lab focuses on sustainable transition metal catalysis with applications in organic synthesis.
