Dr Jamie Marsden is an Associate Professor of Brand Communications at the School of Design, University of Leeds. He joined the university in 2004 and has held leadership roles including Director of Postgraduate Research Studies (2019–2022) and Academic Lead for Examinations and Assessment (2010–2013). His academic journey includes a PhD in Corporate Communications and an MA in Graphic Design from the University of Leeds Business School.

Jamie’s research bridges design expression, brand strategy, and corporate communications. Key themes include brand identity articulation, packaging design, place branding, and brand avatars in digital spaces, often in collaboration with industry partners like Bloom, IDEO, and Landor Associates. His work emphasizes real-world applications through partnerships with leading brand agencies.
He supervises PhD students in topics such as luxury brand packaging, virtual influencers, and cultural heritage branding, with six completions to date and nine current supervisees. His teaching integrates research and industry experience, focusing on brand strategy, design, and management across the School of Design and Business School.
