Jamie Marie Faro

Jamie Marie Faro is an Assistant Professor at UMass Chan Medical School in the Population and Quantitative Health Sciences department under the T.H. Chan School of Medicine. She is also affiliated with the Morningside Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in both Masters in Clinical Investigation and Population Health Sciences departments.

Dr. Faro specializes in behavioral and implementation science with focus areas in physical activity, diet, smoking cessation and mHealth approaches. Her work emphasizes cancer survivorship, cardiovascular risk reduction and digital health interventions for at-risk populations.

Her recent research trends show extensive work in 2024-2025 with publications spanning mHealth for cancer survivors, electronic referrals, digital divide risk scores, smoking cessation technologies, and implementation science methodologies. Key journals include JMIR Cancer, BMC Public Health, and JAMA Network Open.

Dr. Faro has received significant grants including: NHLBI K01 (2022-2026) for ActivityChoice program, NCI T32 fellowship (past), and NIA 1R01AG076757 (2022-2026) as Co-Investigator. She also served as Pilot PI for NCATS 5UL1TR001453 (2023) related to survivorship care coordination.

As co-chair of the Massachusetts Comprehensive Cancer Coalition Survivorship Health Equity Task Committee, she collaborates with the UMass Cancer Center and teaches implementation science courses. Her work integrates electronic health records, community partnerships and patient decision aids to improve health outcomes.
