Jamie Maffit serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Blindness and Low Vision Studies at Salus University, where she also directs the Orientation & Mobility Program and works clinically as a Low Vision Therapist and Orientation & Mobility Specialist at the William Feinbloom Low Vision Rehabilitation Center.
Her educational background includes an MS in Orientation and Mobility from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, a Public Health Certificate from Temple University, a Low Vision Rehabilitation Certificate from Salus University, and a BA from the University of Montana-Missoula.
Dr. Maffit's research focuses on innovative pedagogical approaches in Orientation and Mobility (O&M) education, particularly student portfolio development and adaptation to remote instruction during crises. Her clinical work emphasizes visual field enhancement strategies, glare management, and lighting transitions for individuals with visual impairments. She actively explores interdisciplinary collaboration between vision professionals and occupational therapists to improve rehabilitation outcomes.
