Jamie Heywood is an Associate Professor and Academic Lead for Academic Development & Recognition at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU). He designs and implements university-wide initiatives to enhance teaching excellence, academic practice, and student experience through strategic educational objectives. His leadership includes the Anglia Professional Recognition Scheme and the Learning & Teaching in Practice course.

Research Focus: Jamie specializes in transformative education frameworks with emphases on active learning, wellbeing integration, and digital pedagogy. His current doctoral research explores Outdoor and Physically Active Learning (OPAL) in higher education. Additional interests include creative reflection methodologies, escape rooms as educational tools, and strategies for post-pandemic digital teaching.
Publications: Recent works demonstrate a consistent focus on pedagogical innovation, particularly through active learning frameworks and technology-enhanced education. Trends include hybrid teaching solutions, wellbeing-centered approaches, and practical strategies for educator development in digital environments.

As an ARU Health Champion, he integrates wellbeing into academic practice.
