Jamie Desjardins is a Teaching Professor and Director of Undergraduate Programs in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Syracuse University's College of Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on culturally responsive clinical education, hearing health equity, and bilingual speech recognition. She holds a Ph.D. in Audiology and an M.S. in Audiology from Syracuse University, alongside a B.S. in Speech Language Pathology & Audiology from SUNY Cortland.
Her pedagogical work emphasizes preparing clinicians to serve diverse populations, including refugees and BIPOC communities. Notable initiatives include the ALIGN program supporting graduate students of color and the SOAR interprofessional training program for refugee healthcare access. She has secured grants from ASHA and university programs to advance culturally responsive healthcare practices.
Desjardins has presented widely on topics like hearing aid adoption barriers, third-party hearing disability impacts, and bilingual cognitive processing. Awards include Syracuse University's Faculty Recognition Award and Academic Assessment Champion designation.
