Jamie Deitz is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Education at Ohio Wesleyan University. With 12 years of experience in education, including 8 years teaching kindergarten in Michigan, she specializes in literacy development, reading instruction, and fostering print-rich environments for children. Her academic background includes an M.S. in Reading and Literacy, an M.S. in Educational Technology, and a B.S. in Elementary Education with concentrations in early childhood development, mathematics, and reading.
Her research focuses on the Science of Reading and cognitive processes in literacy acquisition. Jamie oversees field experiences for elementary and special education majors and contributes to teacher training through her practical expertise. She is also associated with the OWU Connection program, integrating classroom theory with real-world applications.
Jamie Deitz is a contributing author to Cases of Teaching and Learning Across and Beyond K-12 Settings (2018), a compilation of case studies designed to support educators. Her work intersects with interdisciplinary fields such as Educational Technology, Special Education, and Cognitive Development.
