Jamie A Schillinger is an Associate Professor of Religion and Director of Middle East Studies at St. Olaf College. His work bridges theological and ethical inquiries in Christian and Islamic traditions, with a focus on the intersections of faith, virtue, and reason in secularizing contexts.

His research explores the philosophy of religion, the dynamics of religion and politics, and the role of intellectual virtues in interreligious dialogue. Current projects examine how Christian and Islamic frameworks for intellectual virtues shape disagreement and collaboration across religious lines.
Jamie is an active member of the Society for the Study of Muslim Ethics and previously served as its vice president (2014–2017). Office hours: Mondays & Wednesdays 11:00 AM–12:00 PM, Fridays 10:00 AM–11:00 AM.
In his personal time, Jamie enjoys jazz, film, and cross-country skiing, and he draws inspiration from his Pacific Northwest roots.
