Jami L. Anderson is an Assistant Professor (Teaching) of Law and Faculty Director of Undergraduate Legal Programs at Wayne State University Law School. Her academic career spans three decades with interdisciplinary focus on law, ethics, and social justice. She holds a J.D. from Wayne State Law School, a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California, and a B.A. from Arizona State University.
Anderson’s research evolves across four distinct phases: early work on Hegelian punishment theory, followed by Critical Race Theory and Whiteness Studies, then Critical Disabilities Studies focusing on legal ableism, and current advocacy for neurodiversity. Her teaching portfolio includes courses on philosophy, ethics, legal procedure, and race/gender studies.
Recent scholarship emphasizes disability justice and autism advocacy, including her edited volume Philosophy of Autism (2013) and analyses of legal systems' role in sustaining ableism. Earlier works explored retributive justice theories and societal constructions of race and sexuality.
Award-winning educator with over 20 years of experience, Anderson has pioneered curricula in bioethics, feminist theory, and medical ethics. She actively engages in interdisciplinary collaborations across law, philosophy, and disability studies disciplines.
