James Wallman

Professor James Wallman holds dual roles as an Honorary Fellow at the University of Wollongong's School of Earth, Atmospheric and Life Sciences and as Dean of Science at the University of Technology Sydney. His academic expertise spans forensic entomology, insect systematics, and ecological research. He has supervised numerous PhD students focused on topics ranging from insect thermogenesis to species taxonomy.

Wallman's research interests center on the systematics, ecology, and forensic applications of blowflies and other carrion-associated insects. His work integrates genomic, morphological, and ecological approaches to address questions in biodiversity, evolution, and forensic casework. Key themes include carrion succession patterns, insect biodiversity in fragmented habitats, and the development of forensic entomology methodologies.
