James W. Vaupel (1945–2022) was a renowned Professor of Social, Health, and Natural Sciences at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU), serving as Founding Director of the Interdisciplinary Centre on Population Dynamics (CPop) and the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (Germany). He held academic roles at Duke University, the University of Minnesota, and SDU, and was a key figure in biodemography and aging research.
