James Turner

Dr James Turner is a postdoctoral researcher and PhD Research Fellow at the University of Southampton's Department of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics, working on the ESRC-funded DELTEA (Digital Empowerment in Language Teaching) project. His academic focus centers on second language speech acquisition with specialization in phonetic production and perception.

His primary research interests include:

• L2 speech learning mechanisms
• Phonetic drift and L1 attrition phenomena
• Quantitative research methodologies in linguistics
• Application of eye-tracking in language processing studies

Analysis of his recent publications reveals strong interdisciplinary connections between phonetics, psycholinguistics, and second language acquisition.
