Dr. James Smoliga is a Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at Tufts University School of Medicine, Seattle. He previously held tenured positions at High Point University and Marywood University. His research bridges physical therapy, sports medicine, and exercise physiology, focusing on injury prevention, performance optimization, and combating pseudoscience in scientific discourse. With 80+ peer-reviewed publications, his work has been featured in major media outlets like the New York Times. He has received awards such as the 2022 Guy Simoneau Excellence in Research Award and the 2025 Tufts Excellence in Online Teaching Award. His educational background includes a DVM from Cornell University (2003) and a Ph.D. in Sports Medicine and Nutrition from the University of Pittsburgh (2007). He is also an avid distance runner and advocate for evidence-based practices.
