Dr. James Small is an Associate Professor and Academic Director of Entrepreneurship (TCE) at Tilburg University, affiliated with the Tilburg School of Economics and Management (TiSEM), specifically within the Department of Strategy and Entrepreneurship. He holds an office in the Koopmans Building (Room K 808). His research focuses on entrepreneurship (corporate and start-ups), innovation, sustainable business models, circular economy principles, operations management, and logistics systems.
Teaching responsibilities include courses such as Social and Environmental Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Impact, and Sustainable Entrepreneurship. He has received the TiSEM Teaching Innovation Award 2015/2016 for his contributions to pedagogical excellence.
His research explores themes like lean principles in logistics, recovery strategy selection in supply chains, and customer-logistics provider relationships, as evidenced by his publications from 2011–2015. His work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical applications in manufacturing and service industries.
