James Salvatore, MS, DC, is an Assistant Professor in the Basic Sciences department at National University of Health Sciences (NUHS), where he has taught in the anatomy laboratory since 2013 and transitioned to full-time employment in 2015. He oversees lab operations for undergraduate and doctorate programs, ensuring students have access to necessary resources.

- Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) and Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from National University of Health Sciences
- Master of Science in Human Anatomical Sciences from Northern Illinois University (2013)
Dr. Salvatore’s research and teaching focus on anatomy and physiology, informed by his hands-on experience managing anatomy labs and mentoring students. He also contributes as a part-time instructor at the University of Saint Francis in Joliet. His academic career began as a teaching assistant in neuroanatomy and anatomy labs during his studies, and he emphasizes the importance of student collaboration in gross anatomy courses.
His personal journey with chiropractic care began in childhood, when he was treated for asthma by an NUHS graduate. This experience, combined with NUHS’s rigorous science-based curriculum requiring a bachelor’s degree for entry, shaped his decision to pursue education and a career at NUHS. He values the student-led teaching assistant program, where high-performing students return to help peers, fostering a dynamic community.
