Gregory D. Cramer

Gregory D. Cramer, DC, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Research and Basic Sciences at National University of Health Sciences (NUHS) and serves as Dean of the Department of Research. With a career spanning over three decades, he combines chiropractic practice, research, and education to advance spinal manipulation science.

• Education: BS and DC from National College of Chiropractic (1977, 1979), PhD from Medical College of Ohio (1987).

His research focuses on the anatomical and physiological mechanisms of chiropractic adjustments, particularly zygapophyseal joint dynamics and adhesion breakup. He has led over 25 externally funded projects, including NIH-supported work, and co-authored the textbook Basic and Clinical Anatomy of the Spine, Spinal Cord, and ANS.

Key publications include studies on spinal joint gapping (2013) and evidence-based curricula development (2013), reflecting his dual emphasis on clinical research and educational innovation.

Dr. Cramer actively promotes global chiropractic integration, including lecturing at Brazil's University Feevale on spinal manipulative therapy and cervicogenic headache. He has also contributed to developing NUHS's comprehensive evidence-based practice curricula through NIH grants.
