James R. Corcoran is an Associate Professor of Percussion at the University of the Cumberlands (UC). He teaches percussion, music theory, music technology, and music appreciation, and oversees the UC Marching Patriot Drumline. Mr. Corcoran is also an instrumental faculty member at the Kentucky Center Governor's School for the Arts, performing with its Faculty Ensemble and appearing on the CD Conversations.

- Performs with Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra, Southern Stars Symphonic Brass Band, and others
- Experience in rock-n-roll, classical, salsa, jazz, Latin, Caribbean, and musical theatre styles
He adjudicates percussion events for SCGC, KMEA, and ETSU Contest, and serves as a clinician for Innovative Percussion, Inc. His published snare drum solos 7 Days & 7 Nights and Secret Passage appear in The Blue Book series. His research interests span percussion pedagogy, music technology, and cross-genre performance traditions.
Mr. Corcoran maintains affiliations with the Percussive Arts Society and has collaborated with notable artists like Leon Bates and Dave Samuels. He conducts workshops and serves as guest conductor for percussion ensembles in Kentucky and surrounding states.
