James Pritchett

Dr. James Pritchett is a Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Science at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU), with an honorary position at the University of Manchester. He holds a PhD from the University of Manchester (2006) and a PGCert in Higher Education from MMU (2018). His research focuses on fibrotic diseases, particularly liver fibrosis and mechano-signaling mechanisms. He leads the Doctoral College at MMU and supervises PhD, MRes, and DClinSci students.

Research Interests: Dr. Pritchett investigates extracellular matrix dynamics and hepatic stellate cell activation in fibrosis. Recent projects include Guts UK-funded studies on YAP1-driven liver fibrosis and biomarkers for chronic kidney disease. His work integrates clinical applications and public engagement.
