Dr. James P. Comer is the Maurice Falk Professor of Child Psychiatry at the Yale University School of Medicine's Child Study Center and serves as Associate Dean for Student Affairs. He is renowned for founding the Comer School Development Program in 1968, a transformative model for school reform that emphasizes collaboration among parents, educators, and communities to improve student development and academic success. His work has been implemented in over 1,000 schools across the United States.

His leadership extends to advisory roles at Teachers College, Columbia University, and the Connecticut and U.S. Departments of Education.
Dr. Comer leads the Comer School Development Program and collaborates with universities and school districts to integrate child development principles into educator preparation. His team engages in advocacy and policy research aimed at transforming educational systems to support holistic student development.
