James P. Byrd is a Professor of American Religious History and Cal Turner Chancellor’s Chair of Wesleyan Studies at Vanderbilt University's Graduate Department of Religion. He serves as Associate Dean for Graduate Education and Research, focusing on the intersection of religion, politics, and war in American history.
