James Ord

James Ord is a Postdoctoral researcher at the University of Helsinki, affiliated with the Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences and the Organismal and Evolutionary Biology Research Programme. His research spans ecology, evolutionary biology, genetics, and epigenetics, with a focus on plant biology and environmental DNA analysis.

His recent work includes projects like "EpiBet" (Assessing the Epigenetic Potential of Betula) funded by the Academy of Finland (2025–2029) and "TreeBio" (Center of Excellence in Tree Biology) (2024–2026). He collaborates internationally, including as a Research Associate at the University of Bern.

Ord contributes to scientific outreach through public talks and conference organization, such as Evolution 2024.
