Zixuan Liu is a Postdoctoral Researcher and Doctoral Programme Supervisor at the University of Helsinki, affiliated with the Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences and the Organismal and Evolutionary Biology Research Programme. His research focuses on plant biology, with expertise in genetics, developmental biology, and physiology.
His current work includes the Center of Excellence in Tree Biology (TreeBio), active from 2024 to 2026, funded by the Research Council of Finland. Liu's research explores vascular tissue dynamics, carbon allocation, and plasmodesmata, as well as phloem unloading mechanisms in root development.
Collaborations include partnerships with researchers like Ykä Helariutta, R. Ruonala, and teams across Finland and international networks. Liu has contributed one publication in 2024 to the Journal of Plant Physiology, focusing on phloem unloading and root development trends.
