James Minchin is a Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Cardiovascular Science, University of Edinburgh. As a Principal Investigator and Senior Research Fellow (EPICT), he leads research focused on understanding the genetic basis of adiposity traits, including obesity, early-onset obesity, and body fat distribution.
Research Interests: His work explores how genetic factors influence adipose tissue function, lipid accumulation, and disease susceptibility in modern societies. Key themes include the interplay between genotype and environmental factors in metabolic disorders, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancer. His lab investigates mechanisms linking adipose dysfunction to systemic health risks.
