James Martin is an Assistant Professor at Temple University’s College of Liberal Arts, Department of English. His work focuses on the intersection of Puritanism, Republicanism, and early American industrialization, with expertise in First Year Writing and the American Technological Sublime. He teaches foundational courses in academic discourse and analytical reading/writing.

His research explores the ideological foundations of American industry during the Early National Period, particularly how Puritan utility and Republican virtue shaped transatlantic Enlightenment thought. James contributes to the First Year Writing Program and has lived in the Philadelphia area for nearly a decade.
