James Mackay is an Associate Professor at the European University Cyprus, affiliated with the School of Humanities, Social and Education Sciences and the Department of Arts & Humanities. He holds a PhD in Native American Literature from King's College London and has previously worked as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Nicosia and Special Scientist at the University of Cyprus.
His research focuses on Indigenous literature, digital culture, and postcolonial theory, with a particular emphasis on:
- Decolonizing social media and digital poetics
- Indigenous sovereignty in the Anthropocene
- Queer and Two-spirit Indigenous narratives
- Settler colonial representations in pornography
- Indigenous epistemology in global contexts
