James Lomas

Dr. James Lomas is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics at the University of York. His research focuses on applied microeconometric analysis in health economics, particularly addressing empirical questions in economic evaluation and cost-effectiveness analysis. Prior to his current role, he was a Research Fellow at the Centre for Health Economics at York. He holds a PhD in Economics and has been awarded the Willard G. Manning Memorial Award for outstanding research in health econometrics (2016).

He leads projects funded by the ESRC and EU, including studies on disability benefit eligibility and health opportunity cost thresholds. His teaching includes modules on Health Care Evaluation, Clinical Decision Analysis, and Outcome Measurement. Lomas collaborates internationally on health economics for policy impact and has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals.
