Professor Andrew M Jones is a Professor of Economics at the University of York, UK, and former Head of the Department of Economics and Related Studies (2011-2015). He leads the Health, Econometrics and Data Group (HEDG) and has edited major works like the Elgar Companion to Health Economics and the Oxford Encyclopedia of Health Economics. His research focuses on microeconometrics, health inequalities, and the economics of addiction. He has supervised over 30 PhD students and held a Leverhulme Major Research Fellowship (2017-2020).

- Roles: Editor of Health Economics (1995-2019), President of the European Health Economics Association (2016-2018), and Visiting Professorships at Monash University and the University of Bergen.
His research interests include socioeconomic determinants of health, biomarkers in health studies, and policy analysis. Notable awards include the Willard G. Manning Award and the Royal Economic Society Junior Fellowship. He has led numerous grants, including ESRC-funded projects on health inequality and biomarker applications.
Recent work explores pandemic impacts on health equity, leveraging UKHLS data. He organizes the European Workshops on Econometrics and Health Economics and collaborates internationally on health policy initiatives.
