James Kirkpatric Flack is an Associate Professor Emeritus in the Department of History at the University of Maryland. He specializes in Washington, D.C.'s intellectual and urban history, historical preservation, and archival studies. His research explores late 19th-century intellectual communities in Washington, the socio-political dynamics of the District of Columbia, and the documentation of local historical narratives.
