James J. Gross is the Ernest R. Hilgard Professor of Psychology at Stanford University, with a courtesy appointment in Philosophy. He directs the Stanford Psychophysiology Laboratory and holds affiliations with Bio-X, Wu Tsai Human Performance Alliance, and Wu Tsai Neurosciences Institute. His academic journey includes a BA in Philosophy and Psychology from Yale University (1987) and a PhD in Clinical Psychology from UC Berkeley (1993).
Gross's research examines emotion regulation mechanisms using multimodal approaches (behavioral, physiological, neuroimaging). Key interests include:
