James Hulme is a Lecturer in Law at the Sheffield Institute of Law and Justice, part of Sheffield Hallam University's College of Social Sciences and Arts. He joined the department in December 2022 after 14 years teaching Law in the Further Education sector. His teaching focuses on Land Law, Criminal Law, Contract Law, and the English Legal System.
Education: LLB (Hons) and PGCE qualifications.
Research interests include the history of crime and punishment, Anglo Saxon legal codes, and the evolution of English law during the Early Medieval period, particularly during Viking settlement eras. Current research explores human rights consciousness in Early Medieval law-making.
