James Harrison

James Harrison serves as Adjunct Faculty and Director of the Webster University Film Series within the School of Communications at Webster University's St. Louis Main Campus. Previously the program coordinator since 2004, he oversees film programming initiatives leveraging over 20 years of industry experience.

Harrison studied film production at Webster University and maintains deep ties with the St. Louis film community through collaborations with the St. Louis Film Office. His professional focus spans documentary filmmaking, film exhibition technologies, and historical film analysis, informed by extensive hands-on production work.

As a frequent juror for the St. Louis International Film Festival Documentary and Shorts programs, 48 Hour Film Festival, and International Documentary Challenge, he bridges academic programming with industry practice. His produced, shot, and edited documentaries have aired on Higher Education Channel (HEC), Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), and Discovery Channel, demonstrating applied expertise in cinematic storytelling.

Harrison's role emphasizes practical film technology knowledge and curatorial vision for the university's film series, cultivating community engagement through screenings and industry partnerships. His work reflects a commitment to both artistic expression and educational outreach within the Electronic & Photographic Media Department.
