James Byo is the Carl Prince Matthies Professor of Music Education and Chair at Louisiana State University (LSU), where he also serves as Director of the School of Music. His research spans both pedagogical and performance domains, including teacher/conductor error detection, gesture analysis, performer rhythm reading, and tuning studies. He has lectured internationally across six countries and held leadership roles in global music education organizations.
