James Brickley is the Gleason Professor of Business Administration and Senior Associate Dean of Faculty & Research at the Simon Graduate School of Business Administration, University of Rochester. He has been a full-time faculty member since 1990 and holds leadership roles in academic governance and research administration.
His research focuses on corporate governance, organizational economics, and healthcare management. Key areas include the economics of organizations, executive compensation, franchising, banking, and nonprofit governance. Notable studies examine nursing home quality under tort liability, managerial turnover in healthcare, and structural design of organizations.
Brickley has authored influential textbooks such as Managerial Economics and Organizational Architecture (2021) and An Advanced Introduction to Corporate Finance (2022).
