Gerard Wedig is an Associate Professor at the Simon Graduate School of Business Administration, University of Rochester. His research focuses on healthcare economics and finance, organizational economics, and nonprofit governance, with a particular emphasis on nursing homes, hospital systems, and payment systems. He has consulted for medical organizations including hospitals and pharmaceutical firms on healthcare finance issues. Prior to joining Simon, he taught at Boston University, Wharton School, and Indiana University.
Professor Wedig’s work examines topics such as healthcare market dynamics, nonprofit financial behavior, and the impact of regulations like tort liability and public report cards on institutional performance. His research has been published in journals including Health Economics, Management Science, and The Journal of Law, Economics, and Organization. Key themes include fee determination in healthcare markets, nursing home quality under competition, and governance structures in nonprofit healthcare entities.
His teaching interests span organizational economics, health care finance, managerial economics, and statistics.
