James Binnall

James Binnall, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Law, Criminology, and Criminal Justice at California State University, Long Beach. He serves as Faculty Advisor for Rising Scholars and Executive Director of Project Rebound, both dedicated to supporting formerly incarcerated students. His research focuses on civic marginalization of individuals with criminal convictions, particularly their exclusion from jury service, making him a leading scholar in this field. Binnall has testified before the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights and California legislative bodies, and his work has been presented to the American Bar Association.

Education: Binnall holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine, an LL.M. from Georgetown University, and a JD from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law. He maintains a pro-bono legal practice alongside his academic roles.
