James Bilitski

James Bilitski, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Engineering and Computer Science Division at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. His research focuses on artificial intelligence applications in music technology, networking, web programming, and mobile app development. He holds a BS from California University of Pennsylvania, an MS from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and NOVA University, and a PhD from Nova Southeastern University (2006).

His work bridges computational methods with musical instrument performance, including projects using genetic algorithms and machine learning to automate trumpet performance parameters. Research emphasizes acoustic modeling, evolutionary algorithms, and human-machine interaction in music contexts.
