معرفی
Dr. James Bell is a Senior Lecturer in Human Physiology at La Trobe University's Department of Microbiology, Anatomy, Physiology & Pharmacology. His research focuses on cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying heart diseases, including arrhythmias, diastolic dysfunction, and myocardial infarction. He investigates sex-specific therapeutic targets for aging and obese populations at risk of cardiac disorders.
Education:
- PhD, King's College, University of London (United Kingdom)
- MSc, King's College, University of London (United Kingdom)
- BSc (Hons), University College, University of London (United Kingdom)
Research interests emphasize sex differences in cardiac physiology, metabolic-cardiac interactions, and translational therapies. His work integrates molecular biology, proteomics, and animal models to explore mechanisms like glycophagy, lipid accumulation, and hormone signaling in heart disease progression. Notable areas include diabetic cardiomyopathy, exercise-mediated cardioprotection, and the role of autophagy in myocardial dysfunction.
Recent publications highlight advancements in understanding glycogen-autophagy pathways, sex-specific transcriptomic regulation, and diagnostic methods for cardiac stiffness. His studies also address maternal obesity's impact on fetal cardiac development and the cardioprotective potential of exercise in cancer therapy.
