James Bednarz

James Bednarz is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at University of North Texas, where he researches avian ecology and conservation biology with emphasis on raptor species. He serves as Undergraduate Advisor and studies behavioral ecology across diverse habitats.

His investigations span nesting behaviors of Red-shouldered Hawks, full life-cycle ecology of American Kestrels, and habitat use patterns in fragmented landscapes. Bednarz employs radio-telemetry and field observation techniques to address conservation challenges facing bird populations. Recent work identifies critical knowledge gaps in kestrel migration and proposes evidence-based protection strategies.
