James Arrington

James Arrington is a postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education (Penn GSE), where he focuses on literacies, digital learning, and critical education practices. He supports graduate and doctoral students through the Penn Chief Learning Officer (PennCLO) program, emphasizing scholar-practitioner learning and real-world applications.

Arrington's research explores how students reconcile traditional academic writing with contemporary digital practices, advocating for autonomy in communication. He previously taught students with autism in Florida and earned his doctorate from the University of Central Florida's Literacy Studies program.

At Penn GSE, he collaborates on curriculum development for Catalyst, a digital learning initiative, and designs writing instruction for diverse audiences. His work bridges literacy, semiotics, and communication as tools for empowerment beyond academic norms.
