James A. Secord is Professor of History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Cambridge, Director of the Darwin Correspondence Project, and professorial fellow at Christ’s College, Cambridge. He holds a PhD from Princeton University (1981) and an undergraduate degree in Geology and English Literature from Pomona College (1975). His research focuses on the history of science during the late 18th and 19th centuries, with notable publications including Visions of Science and Victorian Sensation.
His current work addresses contemporary challenges in the history of science through a forthcoming book. Research interests span Victorian science, history of geology, and textual analysis of scientific readership.
Secord contributes to major projects like 'Knowledge in Transit' exploring scientific communication dynamics.
