James A. Mueller is a Professor in the Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of Pittsburgh, affiliated with the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on experimental particle physics, particularly studying the decay mechanisms of bottom and top quarks. He has contributed to the CLEO and CDF experiments and is currently a key member of the ATLAS collaboration at CERN, investigating W-t-b coupling dynamics. Mueller's work emphasizes precision measurements in high-energy collider environments, leveraging advanced detector technologies like the ATLAS Liquid Argon Calorimeter.
He advises graduate students Sebastian Merkt and Chi Wing Ng. His publications span topics including b-jet cross-sections, detector performance optimization, and top quark decay analysis.
