Jamal White

Jamal White is Assistant Professor of Dance at Marymount Manhattan College, where he contributes to the Department of Dance within the College of Arts and Sciences. He is also Artistic Fellow at BODYTRAFFIC and actively engaged in choreographic and educational initiatives across the U.S. and internationally.

Jamal White's research and artistic practice centers on contemporary dance, choreography, and inclusive performance. His work bridges ballet, modern, and urban dance forms, with a strong focus on equity, community engagement, and art diplomacy. He explores Black identity, disability inclusion, and cross-cultural expression through performance and education.

His recent creative works reflect a diverse engagement with dance film, interdisciplinary collaboration, and international festivals. Themes include cultural identity, social justice, and artistic innovation across academic, professional, and community contexts.

Jamal White has advised and mentored through university commissions, youth ensembles, and community programs. He has received support through fellowships and residencies, including the Utah Ballet Choreographic Institute and BODYTRAFFIC Artistic Fellowship. His work is often funded through institutional commissions and festival invitations.

He is a founding member and Associate Director of The Black Artists Dance Collective, a community arts organization providing tuition-free programs for Black dancers in Atlanta. He also collaborates with national and international dance companies and educational institutions to advance inclusive dance practices.
