Dr. Jalal Torabzadeh is a Professor and Chair of the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), and Coordinator of the Mechanical and Petroleum Engineering programs. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Abadan Institute of Technology, Iran, and M.S./Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Southern California (USC). His expertise spans reservoir engineering, enhanced oil/gas recovery, and thermal/fluid laboratory methods. He has authored over 30 technical papers and led research funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, Southern California Gas Co., and Chevron.

Research Interests: Thermodynamics, heat transfer, transport processes in porous media, reservoir engineering characterization, and enhanced recovery techniques. His work integrates theoretical and experimental methods to address challenges in energy resource management.

Advisory/Grants: Principal investigator for projects funded by DOE and industry partners. Advises national/international oil companies and serves on boards of LASPE and LACES. Previously worked as a reservoir engineer at the National Iranian Oil Co. and Chevron.
Labs/Teams: Leads the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department’s research initiatives, focusing on energy and fluid dynamics.
