Jakub Kowalewski is a Senior Laudato Si' Research Fellow and CMAT Research Fellow at St Mary’s University. He holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Essex, alongside MA and BA degrees in Philosophy from the University of Sussex. His work focuses on eco-apocalypticism, climate philosophy, and decolonial theory. He is the author of A Philosophy of Climate Apocalypticism (2025) and editor of The Environmental Apocalypse (2023).
Current roles include supporting the Guardians of Creation Project’s Laudato Si' Champions initiative and research in Catholic Multi-Academy Trusts. He is a Laudato Si' Action Platform Sector Partner and co-organizer of the London Conference in Critical Thought. His research bridges philosophy, theology, and environmental studies, addressing climate crisis through interdisciplinary frameworks.
Key projects include exploring eco-apocalyptic discourses in theology and literature, with recent work analyzing climate narratives and decolonial approaches to environmental ethics. His articles span phenomenology, political ontology, and religious history, reflecting a commitment to rethinking human-environment relations through critical thought.
