Jakob Wegmann is a doctoral researcher in the Department of Economics at the University of Bonn, affiliated with the Institute for Advanced Studies in Economics (IAME). He is a member of the Bonn Graduate School of Economics (BGSE) since winter 2018/19 and a scholarship holder of the Collaborative Research Center (CRC TR 224) since January 2022. His research focuses on applied microeconomics, labor economics, and public economics, particularly examining tax policy effects on labor supply, minimum wage impacts on internships, and reporting biases in survey wage data. His work combines empirical analysis with policy relevance, leveraging large-scale datasets and administrative records.
Wegmann has published in journals such as Applied Economics and is currently under review at the Journal of Labor Economics. He contributes to open-source tax and transfer calculation tools like wtcalc and GETTSIM, which are used in academic and policy contexts. His teaching experience includes roles as a teaching assistant for courses on labor economics, mathematics for economists, and social policy at the University of Bonn.
His research projects include studies on parental leave policies, unemployment benefits design, and the interplay between tax brackets and household bargaining. Wegmann’s work often highlights behavioral insights from tax systems and their implications for gender disparities in labor markets.
