Jaklin Kornfilt is a Professor in the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics at Syracuse University, serving as the Turkish Program Coordinator. She holds an honorary PhD from the University of Cyprus (2021). Her affiliations include Jewish Studies Minor, Middle Eastern Studies, and Linguistic Studies. She specializes in syntactic theory, linguistic typology, and Turkic/Germanic languages. Her research focuses on Turkish syntax, morphology, and language contact. She has published widely on Turkish grammar, relative clauses, and formal linguistics. Kornfilt teaches courses like Syntactic Analysis and Morphological Analysis, and she is actively involved in editorial roles for major linguistics journals and encyclopedias. Her service includes leadership in Syracuse University’s Linguistic Studies Program and extensive peer-review activities.
