Jake Hanlon is an Associate Professor and current Chair of the Music Department at Saint Francis Xavier University, home to Canada's oldest degree-granting Jazz Studies program. He teaches Jazz Composition, Jazz Guitar, Popular Music History, and directs small ensembles while maintaining an active performance career.
His educational background includes:
- M. Mus. in Jazz Studies from the University of North Texas
- Bachelor of Music from St. Francis Xavier University
- Alumnus of the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead composition residency in Washington, DC (2007)
